Your Support

Friends and Neighbors,

My primary focus as your State Senator is to find practical solutions to the problems facing Minnesota families, businesses, and local government units to the extent that state government can help and not cause greater difficulties. When I author or co-author a bill, advocate for an idea, debate my colleagues, or cast a vote, the people who work or live in rural Minnesota and Senate District 16 come first.

As your current State Senator representing Senate District 16 and the republican endorsed candidate running for re-election, I ask for your support and your vote in the November 3rd,  2020 election. District 16 includes all of Brown, Lac qui Parle, Yellow Medicine Counties and parts of Lyon, Renville and Redwood Counties.

I want to continue representing the people of this district because I believe rural Minnesota needs a strong, fiscally responsible, experienced voice in the legislature. I was born and raised in the area and I know how the decisions made in St. Paul impact our district as well as our future.

As a Senator having served as a director on several community boards, my background in business and agriculture, and my experience in county government have helped me tremendously in crafting and passing legislation that was in the best interest of rural Minnesota and our district.

Currently, as your State Senator, I serve as the Chair of the Commerce and Consumer Protection, Finance and Policy Committee, and as the Vice-Chair of the Education E-12 Policy and Finance Committee, Agriculture and Rural Development and Housing Policy Committee, Capital Investment Committee and Rules and Administration.  I serve as the Chair of the Senate Republican Caucus Personnel Committee.  I also serve as an Assistant Majority Leader of the Senate Republican Caucus.  I also serve as a member and past co-chair of the Republican Rural Caucus.

I also serve on the following legislative commissions, boards, and task forces; Legislative Coordinating Commission, Legislative Citizens Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR), Minnesota Agriculture Education Leadership Council (MAELC), Minnesota Indian Affairs Council, Council of State Governments (CSG), Economic Development Committee, and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) – Natural Resources and Infrastructure Committee. I serve as a member of the National Council of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), where I serve on the Executive Committee, Life Insurance and Financial Planning Committee, and the Property and Casualty Committee.

Thank you for the honor to represent Senate District 16. If elected, I will remain committed to work for you and your family and not politics as usual in St Paul.

Best Regards,

Gary Dahms
